Release Notes - All Web Parts — April 29, 2026

Written by Isabel Mariz

This release focuses on polishing the Documents web part we refactored earlier in April—making it simpler to configure, clearer to understand, and more predictable in how it behaves for both creators and readers.

Imagine you’re setting up a Documents web part for a team site. “See all” is back where you expect it—above the content, not buried in the command bar. If you’re using the tree view to navigate folders and libraries, the current folder is clearly highlighted, so you always know where you are. When you switch layouts, we’re upfront: not every mapped field is shown in every layout. Even so, hidden fields stay unlocked, so you can still use them for search, filtering, sorting, and categorization. Fewer surprises. More confidence in your setup.

Beyond Documents, Media Gallery now opens directly in the configured target folder. The News web part’s small layout has been balanced for cleaner cards and better image proportions. And when News is connected to a list, multi‑choice columns can now display multiple categories correctly. As usual, this release also includes a set of fixes that smooth out the day‑to‑day experience.

Improvements

Documents (v.4.0.2.35)

“See All” Positioned on the right, above content

“See all” now appears above content instead of in the command bar and no longer uses an icon. This places the action where it is available out of the box, making it easier to understand its purpose and reducing visual weight in the command bar.

Single “All Items” Entry with Clear Folder Context

The All items entry now appears only once to avoid repetition and reduce visual noise. The folder the user is currently browsing is visually highlighted as open, making it clear where they are within the structure. This improves orientation while navigating folders and helps users quickly understand the current context without relying on duplicate labels.

Clear Guidance When Fields Differ Across Layouts

In the Documents web part, layout-specific field visibility is now clearly communicated. When fields change order or are not shown in a particular layout, a tooltip under “Field Layout & Sort” explains that layouts display specific fields and that some mapped fields may not be visible. This helps users understand why certain fields do not appear in all layouts and avoids confusion when switching between layouts with different configurations.

Hidden Layout Fields Remain Editable with Context

Fields that are toggled off in the layout now remain editable instead of being locked. When a field is hidden, a message explains that it may still be relevant even if it is not visible in the layout. This helps maintain data accuracy and avoids blocking edits in scenarios where the field continues to be used by logic, integrations, or downstream configurations.

Tooltip Placement Matches Dropdown Context

The tooltip on each list mapped in “Field Layout & Sort” now appears after the dropdown instead of before the library name. This makes it clear that the message applies to the dropdown values rather than the selected library, reducing ambiguity and helping users understand the available options without misinterpreting the scope of the tooltip.

Clear Guidance When No Libraries Are Selected

When no libraries are configured, a concise message explains what’s missing and how to proceed. It clearly states that no libraries are selected and guides users to choose a library from the current site, select one from other sites, or create a new library to continue—matching the format and clarity used in Quick Links for a consistent setup experience.

Improved Web Part Descriptions Across Surfaces

Short (tooltip) and medium (settings panel) descriptions have been updated to clearly communicate the web part value to content creator searching for and configuring web parts.

Carousel (v.2.0.2.29)

Hidden Layout Fields Remain Editable with Context

Fields that are toggled off in the layout now remain editable instead of being locked. When a field is hidden, a message explains that it may still be relevant even if it is not visible in the layout. This helps maintain data accuracy and avoids blocking edits in scenarios where the field continues to be used by logic, integrations, or downstream configurations.

Lists (v.2.0.2.40)

Max Rows and Fixed Height options unified

The "Max Rows" and "Fix section height" (formerly “Force Rows”) options have been merged into a single, consistent configuration block across Lists and People, following the model introduced in the Celebrations web part. The Fixed Height tooltip now reads: "Web part height will match the maximum rows defined, regardless of content."

Media Gallery (v.3.1.2.37)

Media Gallery opens directly in the configured target folder

When multiple media libraries are selected and a target folder is configured, the Media Gallery now opens directly in that target folder rather than its parent. Behaviour is consistent with the Documents web part and persists correctly after page refresh.

News (v. 3.1.2.96)

Balanced Card Height and Image Proportions

Cards now use a more balanced image ratio that limits excessive vertical growth, reducing empty space within each card. While card height can still vary based on inner content, cards within the same row remain the same height, preserving alignment. This results in a more consistent layout, especially when vertical images are used, and improves visual balance in published views.

Support for Multi‑Choice Column Mapping with Multiple Categories

When the data source is a list, multichoice columns can now be mapped and displayed as multiple categories. This allows all selected values to be shown instead of a single one, ensuring the data is represented accurately, and the categorization reflects how lists with multi‑selection are structured.

People (v.3.1.2.32)

Max Rows and Fixed Height options unified

The "Max Rows" and "Fix section height" (formerly “Force Rows”) options have been merged into a single, consistent configuration block across Lists and People, following the model introduced in the Celebrations web part. The Fixed Height tooltip now reads: "Web part height will match the maximum rows defined, regardless of content."

All web parts

Transparent colour selection in the “Title” colour picker

The colour picker for title style across all web parts now supports transparency, enabling more nuanced and on-brand design configurations.

Fixes

Accordion (v.3.2.2.62)

"Group by" field can now be reset to its default value

When using a Document Library source, the "Group by" field could not be cleared back to its default state. The reset option now works as expected.

URL protocol no longer duplicated when adding links to items

Adding a link to an Accordion item was incorrectly prepending "https://" when the URL already included it, resulting in a broken link. This is now handled correctly.

Duplicate MS List instances no longer added as a source

The same Microsoft List could be added multiple times as a source in Accordion, causing duplicated content. A check is now in place to prevent this.

Carousel (v. 2.0.2.29)

Enabled layout fields now visible independently of configuration position

The layout field displayed last under “Field Layout & Sort” was not appearing in the layout panel when using a SharePoint list as the data source. The field is now correctly displayed and functional.

Documents (v.4.0.2.35)

Document previews restored for users with permissions set to “Restricted View”

Users with permissions set to “Restricted View” – which, by default, can view pages, list items, and documents. Documents can be viewed in the browser but not downloaded - were unable to preview documents. Previews now load correctly regardless of the user's access level. Restricted View .

News (v. 3.1.2.96)

Duplicate items no longer displayed in the web part

Under certain configurations, the same news item was being rendered more than once in the feed. Deduplication logic now ensures each item appears only once.

Quick Links (v. 4.0.2.44)

Icon picker search bar is now fully legible

The search input in the icon picker panel was too narrow to display typed text clearly. The input field has been resized to a usable width.

Preview now reflects changes immediately after saving

When using the "Save to this web part" source, edited changes were not reflected in the preview until a full page reload. The preview now updates in real time after saving.

Audience targeting no longer causes layout overflow in gradient view

Enabling per-item audience targeting in the gradient layout was causing icons and background images to overflow downward. The layout now renders correctly with audience targeting active.

RSS Feed (v. 2.1.2.54)

Icon picker search bar is now fully legible

The search input in the icon picker panel was too narrow to display typed text clearly. The input field has been resized to a usable width.

"Configure Data Source" icon is now correctly aligned

The icon next to the feed name in the data source configuration panel was visually misaligned. It is now correctly positioned.

Script Editor (v. 2.0.2.26)

Tooltips now display correctly on hover

Tooltip messages in the Script Editor were not appearing when hovering over the relevant elements. Tooltips are now consistently shown on hover.

Stream Pro (v. 2.0.2.27)

Enhanced caption legibility in modal player

Captions in the modal player now maintain a consistent and readable font size regardless of the modal's dimensions. This improvement ensures that subtitles remain clearly visible and accessible during playback, addressing previous issues where captions appeared too small in full-screen or expanded views.

Table of Contents (v. 3.1.2.18)

Icon picker search bar is now fully legible

The search input in the icon picker panel was too narrow to display typed text clearly. The input field has been resized to a usable width.

Symbol and panel alignment fixed in fixed layout with left alignment

Using fixed layout combined with left alignment was causing the symbol and panel to render out of position. Both elements are now correctly aligned.

Conclusion

You’ll spend less time working around web parts—and more time publishing what matters. Clearer layout guidance, improved navigation, and better support for real business needs help creators move faster while keeping experiences consistent for everyone consuming your pages.

We continue to invest in the “small stuff” that adds up: clearer setup paths, fewer surprises between layouts, and predictable behaviour across surfaces.

If something still feels unclear or inconsistent during configuration, keep telling us—those moments are exactly where we focus next.
