This release marks the beginning of a significant transformation for SharePoint content editing with BindTuning web parts. We've redesigned the editor experience for ultimate simplicity and intuition, starting with major updates to our News and RSS Feed web parts.

You'll find a new, unified data source configuration experience, improved layout and sort options, new actions configuration, and more flexible content creation and customization, all within a streamlined editing interface. Expect these user experience improvements across all BindTuning web parts in upcoming releases.

This release includes a crucial new feature: the ability to filter BindTuning web parts using URL parameters. For web parts connected to SharePoint lists, this opens up unprecedented possibilities. Going far beyond standard SharePoint capabilities, this feature is key to creating highly personalized and interactive content displays, including the development of sophisticated Single Page Applications directly within your intranet. It empowers you to dynamically adapt content for every user and scenario.

General improvements span all web parts, such as upgraded analytics for deeper insights, merged license/about sections, and fixes for impactful issues with list pickers.

Several web parts—including Celebrations, News, Quick Links, RSS Feed, Stocks Ticker, and Table of Contents—receive targeted bug fixes to improve reliability and user experience.

New Features

This update brings exciting improvements to how you manage and display content:

  • "RSS Feed" & "News" web parts: New UX Standard

  • Some web parts: Filtering BindTuning web parts content via URL parameters

Layout Configuration Enhancements

    • Drag-and-drop reordering (where applicable).

    • Default Sort Configuration is now placed here to more clearly differentiate from end-user sort configuration (under Search Filter Sort)

Search, Filter & Sort

  • Enabled by default for end users in new web part instances; Tooltips updated for three search modes, to guide usage. Searchable, sortable, and filterable fields are mapped to the layout.

Other Improvements

  • Licence and About merged into a single section.

News web part

New Content Creation Experience - Redesigned form to add news for all data sources:

  • Clear sections to group fields for better usability.

  • Two intuitive ways to add content:

    • From Link: Automatically uses metadata to populate as much of the form as possible.

    • Manual Entry.

  • Creation form now includes sections for Media, Content, Links, Dates, and Audience Targeting. Slight variations across web parts as implementation progresses.

  • All media content (news and videos) supports alternative text, continuing accessibility improvements introduced previously.

New “Configuring Data Source” experience - revised configuration panel for :

  • SharePoint List: Filters now visually organized by type, including new filter method using URL with query parameters.

  • News Posts: data source filtering remains as before but configurable item limit is removed from panel – the web part now fetches the maximum items possible

  • All data sources: Default sort configuration is moved under the new Field Layout and Sort panel.

Layout Configuration Enhancements

    • Field mappings for layout and auxiliary actions (e.g., publish dates, links).

    • Text customization allowed.
