Editing a template in Automate365 allows users to modify the existing rules, configurations, and content structure of a template. This feature is used to update an established template with new requirements or refinements.

How to edit a template

To modify an existing template:

  1. Log in to the BindTuning App.

  2. Navigate to Templates > Created by me or Shared with me

  3. Mouse over the template tile you wish to edit and click the ellipsis (...) icon to reveal the actions menu.

  4. Select "Edit".

  5. Proceed with your desired modifications within the template editor.

When done, save your changes as a draft or publish them to override the active template version.

Considerations when editing a template

When editing a template, it is important to be aware of the following implications for collaboration and version control:

  • When a draft is published, it permanently overwrites the previous version of the template.

  • Modifications made through editing can only be reversed by performing another edit to revert the changes. There is no direct "undo" or version rollback functionality for published edits.

  • While a template is actively being edited, other users in the workspace will observe a "Checked out" label with your name displayed on the template tile (as shown in the image below, e.g., "Checked out by ADAM"). This indicates that the template is currently being modified and helps prevent simultaneous edits.

  • During the editing process, if you choose to save a draft of your changes without publishing them, the template tile will display a "Contains draft" yellow label. This indicates that there are unpublished modifications.
