Building on your understanding of governance policies in Automate365, this article guides you through the process of creating a reusable policy. Reusable policies are defined globally within your Automate365 environment, allowing you to apply consistent governance rules across multiple templates.

Accessing the Policies area

To begin creating and managing your reusable policies, navigate to the Policies area within the Automate365 App:

  1. Log in to the BindTuning App.

  2. In the left-hand navigation, expand the Automate365 section.

  3. Click on Policies.

The Policies area provides a central dashboard for your governance rules. Here, you'll find a full list of all your available reusable policies, clearly organized by their type and indicating how many templates currently use each policy.

Create a new reusable Policy

To create a new reusable policy:

  1. In the top right corner of the Policies page, click the "Create policy +" button.

  2. A wizard will appear, prompting you to select the type of policy you wish to define. Automate365 offers various categories of global policies to ensure comprehensive control:

    • Naming convention policies: To enforce consistent naming standards for new workspaces.

    • Blocked words policies: To prevent the use of inappropriate or restricted terms.

    • External sharing policies: To manage external access and sharing capabilities.

    • Group policies: To define specific settings for Microsoft 365 Groups.

    • Teams policies: To configure specific settings for Microsoft Teams.

Once you select a policy type, you will be guided to the specific configuration settings for that policy.

The detailed instructions for defining the available settings for each policy type are described in their respective dedicated articles.

If you've mastered creating reusable policies, your next step might be to define policies unique to a particular template, to fine-tune your governance rules for distinct workspace needs.
