This article explains the evolution of BindTuning Intranet licensing, detailing the shift from our previous validation method to the new, more efficient key-based system. Learn why this change was made and how it benefits your experience.
From Server Validation to Key-Based Licensing
Previously, BindTuning Intranet products required a continuous "ping" back to our servers to validate the active status of your subscription. This system, while functional, presented several challenges for both BindTuning and our customers, particularly in terms of efficiency and deployment.
The previous model (Before Jul 23, 2024):
Validation Method: Your BindTuning Intranet products within SharePoint would frequently connect to our servers to confirm your subscription's active status.
Deployment Impact: Any renewal or new subscription often necessitated a product "rebuild" with updated validation mechanisms, leading to delays.
The new Key-Based Licensing Model
With the introduction of key-based licensing, the validation process is now performed directly within your SharePoint environment. This change was implemented to streamline operations, enhance security, and improve your overall user experience.
The current model (Effective July 24, 2024):
Validation Method: Upon renewal, you simply obtain a unique license key from the BindTuning App and insert it into your BindTuning Intranet product within SharePoint. This key validates your subscription for its entire duration.
Deployment Impact: No more product rebuilds! Your product continues to function, and you just update the key.
Key benefits of the new model
This transition brings significant advantages, especially for our Intranet product users:
Faster deployment & renewal: Renewing your subscription or activating a new product is now instantaneous. Simply get your key from the BindTuning App and update it in your SharePoint environment. No more waiting for product rebuilds.
Reduced overhead: This model significantly reduces the administrative effort previously associated with managing recurring validations.
Enhanced reliability: Validation is done locally with your key, reducing dependency on continuous external server pings.
Improved security: Keys are managed centrally within your BindTuning App, and the local validation process enhances the security posture.
Seamless user experience: Less friction in the activation and renewal process means more time for you to focus on leveraging your BindTuning products.
How to renew your license with a Key
When your subscription is due for renewal, a new license key will be automatically generated and made available in your BindTuning App.
For detailed instructions on how to access your license key and update your BindTuning Intranet product, please refer to our article: Activate (or renew) your Intranet license key.
This new key-based system ensures a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly experience, allowing you to maintain your workflow without interruption.
