Automate365 empowers organizations to provide a controlled self-service experience for SharePoint site creation. By publishing your pre-configured templates directly into the SharePoint interface, you enable end-users to request new sites with ease, knowing that each new workspace is already structured with your desired content and protected by your essential governance guardrails.
This feature bridges the gap between user autonomy and administrative control, ensuring consistency and compliance from the moment a new site is provisioned.
The end-user experience
Once templates are published to SharePoint, the site creation process becomes intuitive for your end-users:
When a user initiates the process to create a new site in the SharePoint interface (e.g., from the SharePoint start page or a hub site).
In the step where they select a template, a new tab labeled "From BindTuning" will appear.
This dedicated tab acts as your organization's custom template catalog, displaying all Automate365 templates that have been published and targeted to that specific user or group. From here, they can "freely" select a template and proceed with their request.
How to publish templates to SharePoint
Publishing a SharePoint template to this self-service catalog is done within the Automate365 template creation or editing experience.
Log in to the Automate365 App.
Navigate to Templates > Created by me.
Click the "Edit Draft" button for the SharePoint template you wish to publish.
Jump to the final step: "Save and publish."
Locate and enable the "Publish To SharePoint" toggle.
Audience targeting for published templates
To ensure templates are only visible to the relevant users, Automate365 provides granular audience targeting:
Below the toggle, find the textbox "Who can see this template?".
Start typing the name of a user or group, and Automate365 will search your Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for matches. Click Enter.
Only the users or members of the groups entered here will see this template appear under the "From BindTuning" tab in the SharePoint site creation interface. Control template visibility based on roles, departments, or projects.
Leveraging tenant-wide extensions
To enable the seamless integration of your Automate365 templates directly into the SharePoint site creation experience—specifically, the appearance of the "From BindTuning" tab—Automate365 leverages a tenant-wide extension.
This secure extension is deployed and configured in your SharePoint Online App Catalog, the central repository for all organization-wide SharePoint customizations. Once uploaded and activated in the App Catalog, this extension is automatically applied across your entire SharePoint tenant.
